About the role#
Webasto Group is hiring a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team in Plymouth, Michigan. This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling term. You will work on-site, gaining practical experience by supporting our Manufacturing Engineering and Production departments.
What you'll do#
- Assist in designing, developing, and refining production processes and equipment.
- Support daily engineering tasks by maintaining cost-efficient manufacturing systems.
- Perform root cause and failure analysis.
- Apply lean manufacturing techniques to improve current processes.
- Plan and execute time studies and line balancing.
- Develop and update standard manufacturing work instructions.
- Analyze work centers to implement safety and process improvements.
- Identify sources of variation and assess tolerance stack-ups using Six Sigma strategies.
- Develop and conduct experiments as directed.
- Participate in concurrent engineering efforts and critical design reviews.
- Design and improve tools, fixtures, jigs, and assembly aids.
- Provide engineers with weekly summary reports of your daily tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an industrial engineering program or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs using proper lifting techniques.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to work in a manufacturing environment.
