About the role#
The Perception team builds the system that allows our vehicles to understand their surroundings. You will work on spatial-temporal representations and semantic meanings of the environment. This role involves collaborating with research teams to solve real-world problems and optimizing models for our hardware. Interns work alongside industry leaders on projects that contribute to the Waymo Driver.
What you'll do#
- Design and implement multi-modality and multi-task perception models using camera, radar, lidar, and audio data.
- Work on project areas such as 3D object detection, tracking, semantic segmentation, and large-scale foundation models.
- Train and evaluate machine learning models using high-fidelity data from our driving logs.
- Use large-scale machine learning infrastructure in a team environment.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- Alternatively, enrollment in a master's program with a strong publication record.
- Experience with Python.
- Proficiency in building machine learning models using JAX, PyTorch, or Tensorflow.
- A strong track record of high-quality machine learning or computer vision research is preferred.
- Experience with object detection, segmentation, multiple-object tracking, audio perception, or occupancy detection is a plus.
- Publications at top-tier conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, ICML, ICRA, IROS, RSS, NeurIPS, AAAI, IJCV, or PAMI are preferred.
Location & details#
