About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern on the Sys Intel & ML team, you will focus on diagnosing software non-determinism within our autonomous driving systems. You will work alongside industry leaders to build infrastructure and tools that help us understand and resolve complex execution patterns in our codebase.
What you'll do#
- Design and build infrastructure and tooling to diagnose software non-determinism across autonomous driving systems.
- Investigate and resolve non-deterministic execution patterns across Waymo codebases.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in software engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong programming skills in C++.
- Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and systems debugging.
- Experience with statistical data analysis, anomaly detection, or tracing tools.
- Understanding of common sources of software non-determinism, such as concurrency, race conditions, or floating-point determinism.
- Experience with graph execution frameworks.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid and on-site.
- Employment type: Full-time internship.
- Compensation: $70 per hour for Master's students and $85 per hour for PhD students.
