About the role#
This internship is part of the Predictive Planning team. You will work on machine learning solutions that predict the future state of the world and plan the behavior of the Waymo Driver. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Research, implement, and evaluate generative models for autonomous vehicle planning.
- Develop ML-powered systems that enhance the capabilities of the ML driver and support the scaling of the business.
- Translate real-world driving challenges into machine learning problems using techniques like foundation models and reinforcement learning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an MS or PhD program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with deep learning libraries such as TensorFlow, JAX, or PyTorch.
- Proficiency in Python or C/C++.
- Experience deploying and maintaining ML-based systems in production environments is preferred.
- Publications in conferences such as ICML, NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, IROS, CoRL, ACL, or EMNLP are preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Mountain View, California.
- The role is hybrid and requires on-site work.
- Hourly pay is $70 for Master's students and $85 for PhD students.
- We do not offer visa sponsorship for this role.
