About the role#
The Driver Refinement Foundations team provides the framework and expertise for post-training and heuristic improvements across the Planner organization. We build platforms like the Data Flywheel and the Reasoning platform to help engineers deliver driving behavior improvements. As an intern, you will work on projects that impact our autonomous driving technology while expanding your technical skill set.
What you'll do#
- Mine and curate dataset samples from a large corpus of driving data.
- Use large language models and world foundation models for reasoning, decision making, and multi-modality generation.
- Optimize multimodal generative models using RLFT.
- Explore reward modeling.
- Design and implement evaluation metrics and iterate on improvements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate program (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Strong problem-solving and programming skills in Python or C++.
- Good understanding of Jax or PyTorch.
- Experience developing models and model evaluation.
- PhD candidates are preferred.
- Previous internship experience is a plus.
- Some understanding of SQL is helpful.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, hybrid internship based in Mountain View, California, for Summer 2027.
- Master's students receive $70 per hour, and PhD students receive $85 per hour.
