About the role#
The Washington County District Attorney's Office is hiring a Paralegal Intern to support the Domestic Violence Team. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in a legal environment under the direct supervision of a deputy district attorney. You will assist with the preparation of criminal cases while managing sensitive information and meeting court deadlines.
What you'll do#
- Collect documents, records, and recordings from law enforcement and community partners.
- Draft factual and legal summaries for deputy district attorneys.
- Review audio and video evidence for redactions and court presentation.
- Maintain data in spreadsheets and organize case files.
- Support legal proceedings and trial preparations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a paralegal, criminal justice, or related higher education program, or graduation from a qualifying program within the last year.
- Knowledge of criminal law, legal terminology, and discovery procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook Calendaring, Teams, Zoom, and Adobe Pro.
- Ability to research statutes and legal references.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Spanish bilingual skills are preferred.
