About the role#
Wade Trim is hiring an Engineer Intern for the Construction group in Traverse City. This is a full-time, paid summer 2027 position. You will work on-site and assist the team with various project tasks, field inspections, and administrative duties.
What you'll do#
- Interpret project plans and specifications.
- Conduct field inspections and maintain work item quantities.
- Perform field or laboratory material tests.
- Maintain project files and record drawings.
- Prepare construction reports and project status updates.
- Perform soil erosion and sediment control inspections.
- Review technical data for adherence to project requirements.
- Assist with preliminary cost estimates and evaluate quantities.
- Monitor task budgets and project progress.
- Assist with the review of scope, budget, and schedule for new tasks.
- Support Project Managers and assist in the preparation of proposals.
- Attend client, public, project, and staff meetings.
- Participate in seminars or training classes.
- Maintain excellent client relations and a safe working environment.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or construction engineering or concrete technology.
- Sophomore or junior status is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to stay organized and self-motivated.
- Strong communication skills.
