About the role#
The Operations Human Resources Intern position at VT Industries provides an opportunity for students to gain professional experience in the wholesale building materials industry. This internship is based in Bryan, Texas, and offers the potential to extend from one semester to two semesters.
What you'll do#
- Maintain high levels of confidentiality to protect company operations and employee information.
- Provide customer service to employees and applicants by explaining company policies, benefits, and procedures.
- Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, organizing work, answering phones, managing supplies, and sorting mail.
- Support the hiring process by greeting applicants, administering pre-employment tests, conducting interviews, and leading new hire orientations.
- Manage electronic and personnel files, including entering data for new hires, transfers, and terminations.
- Travel between facilities as required to perform job duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
- Major in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to maintain a respectful demeanor toward employees and customers.
- Ability to perform physical requirements including sitting for long periods, light lifting up to 25 pounds, and navigating facilities.
