About the role#
The Global Product Development Office (GPDO) works to improve and accelerate product development processes, including New Product Development & Introduction, Engineer-to-Order, Special Feature Additions, Design Transfers, and Sustaining Engineering. As an intern, you will support initiatives focused on operational excellence and the application of AI tools to improve efficiency across the organization.
What you'll do#
- Support process improvement initiatives driven by leadership priorities, lean workshops, Kaizens, and continuous improvement activities.
- Analyze product development processes to identify bottlenecks and opportunities to improve quality and reduce cycle time.
- Apply Lean and Operational Excellence principles to identify waste across engineering processes.
- Use AI tools to accelerate process analysis, workflow documentation, knowledge management, and insight generation.
- Research and pilot emerging AI technologies to improve engineering productivity and process compliance.
- Support process mapping activities and the development of current-state and future-state workflows.
- Document process improvements in Standard Operating Procedures, training materials, and communications.
- Collect, analyze, and visualize process performance data to support data-driven decision making.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Quality, and Program Management teams.
- Present findings and project outcomes to leadership and key stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Management, Engineering Management, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in process improvement, Lean, Operational Excellence, digital transformation, or analytics.
- Experience using AI tools, analytics platforms, or automation technologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a global, cross-functional environment.
