About the role#
The Technical Innovation Intern supports the Office of the CTO by researching and evaluating emerging technologies to improve data center operations and product offerings. You will contribute to hands-on AI development and experimentation using local computing systems while collaborating with engineering, product, IT, and university teams.
What you'll do#
- Research emerging data center technologies including AC power, cooling, energy storage, IoT, advanced materials, AI infrastructure, and digital twins.
- Analyze industry reports, patents, and market trends to identify innovations for product lines.
- Evaluate technologies from startups, universities, and established vendors.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and innovation briefs for leadership.
- Prototype and test AI and machine-learning workflows using local computing systems.
- Support large language model deployment, inference, evaluation, and fine-tuning experiments.
- Assist with Python-based data pipelines, API integrations, and automation workflows.
- Maintain AI computing workloads, including logging, backups, and system documentation.
- Follow company cybersecurity and responsible-AI requirements.
- Present research findings and recommendations to the Office of the CTO.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Physics, or related fields.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and work within a team.
- Experience with Python and familiarity with Linux or Ubuntu environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with machine learning, generative AI, large language models, or semantic search is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Exposure to Git, REST APIs, databases, or containers is a plus.
- Commitment to safe, secure, and ethical use of AI systems.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site internship based in Westerville, Ohio.
- The term is Summer 2027.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
