About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to support the Lead Mechanical Engineer in the design of HVAC and ventilation systems for critical infrastructure. You will work on projects that meet Vertiv quality requirements while coordinating with business units and vendors to specify mechanical equipment. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027 based on-site in Pelzer, South Carolina.
What you'll do#
- Support conceptual and detailed design of HVAC and ventilation systems.
- Create detailed narratives for Schematic Design, Detail Design, and Construction Drawings.
- Perform thermal transfer calculations and simple CFD analysis.
- Specify mechanical equipment and materials, such as ductwork and cable management systems.
- Conduct quality control during the integration of mechanical systems.
- Define project scope and provide technical support during construction phases.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferably with a thermal background.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and equipment specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with the AutoDesk suite, specifically AutoCAD and Revit, is preferred.
- Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center facilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
