About the role#
Vertiv is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join the IT Solutions team. You will support the design, development, and validation of rack and row-based infrastructure products. These products support high-density compute and AI-driven data center applications. You will work alongside senior engineers to gain hands-on experience with the product development lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Create and update 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD tools.
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for structural and thermal validation of components and assemblies.
- Support prototype builds and validation testing in the engineering lab.
- Work alongside senior mechanical, electrical, and thermal engineers on integrated system designs.
- Gain exposure to industry compliance standards and design-for-manufacturing principles.
- Assist with mechanical design reviews and Bill of Material maintenance.
- Conduct tolerance analysis and stack-up studies to ensure proper fit and function.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Completed at least sophomore year of coursework.
- Foundational understanding of statics, dynamics, materials, and thermodynamics.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work hands-on in a lab environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
