About the role#
This internship supports new product development and sustaining tasks for Global Rack Power Distribution products. You will use mechanical CAD software to turn product specifications into manufacturable designs and release them into the product lifecycle management (PLM) system. You will manage multiple project goals, including product schedules and cost targets, while working in a team environment.
What you'll do#
- Create drawings and bills of material for sheet metal and purchased parts.
- Build 3D mechanical models using sheet metal and part modeling software.
- Generate assembly and product submittal drawings.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams, as well as production staff.
- Work with manufacturing engineers to build prototypes and provide technical direction.
- Write, submit, and release engineering changes in the PLM system.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior status in a Bachelor of Science program for Mechanical Engineering or a related degree with design experience.
- Working knowledge of mechanical 3D CAD modeling, with a preference for CREO or SolidWorks.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
- Experience in engineering design and product development is preferred.
- Electrical and electromechanical knowledge is a plus.
