About the role#
Verkada is hiring software engineering interns to join our backend team. You will work alongside our engineers to build and launch products used by customers around the world. This is a full-time, on-site role based at our headquarters in San Mateo, California. We offer internship terms for Winter 2027 or Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Build scalable distributed systems that handle high traffic from hundreds of thousands of devices.
- Work with high concurrency key-value storage systems and Postgres relational databases.
- Deploy services using Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Develop systems to interact with and configure products remotely.
- Design and develop features that incorporate computer vision.
- Define and improve microservice architectures focused on low latency and high throughput.
What you'll need#
- You are actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
- You have prior internship experience developing and launching products.
- You are familiar with Python or Golang, distributed systems, operating systems, AWS, and Docker.
- You are comfortable working in an agile software development environment.
- We provide visa sponsorship for this role.
