    About the role#

    The Civil Construction Internship provides students interested in a Project Manager or Estimator career track the opportunity to learn the role. You will work under the direction of a mentoring Project Manager or Estimator who provides support and guidance. This is a full-time, on-site role with a rolling term. Consideration for future full-time employment depends on your work quality, interest, and business needs.

    What you'll do#

    • Review project plans, specifications, and jobsites to determine the scope of work.
    • Complete accurate takeoffs using software and manual methods.
    • Calculate material quantities including square yard, linear feet, and cubic yard for material movement.
    • Solicit quotes from subcontractors for bid preparation.
    • Construct bids by adding activities, crews, and equipment, while adjusting production rates.
    • Print bid proposals and review final numbers with your supervisor.
    • Observe the change order process and attend project meetings.

    What you'll need#

    • Minimum of 1 year of education toward a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a similar discipline.
    • At least 1 summer of construction work experience is strongly preferred.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
    • Capacity to read, analyze, and interpret project plans and specifications.
    • Ability to respond to shifting priorities with a can-do attitude.
    • Experience with construction takeoff, bidding, or estimating software is preferred.

    Location & details#

    • Locations: Rogers, Minnesota and New Berlin, Wisconsin.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Schedule: 8 to 10-hour workdays, Monday through Friday.
    • Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and spend extended periods standing or sitting.
