About the role#
The Aquatics Intern supports daily operations and recreational programming at the V3 Sports Center. This is a learning-centered role where you will gain experience in youth engagement, safety, and program coordination. You will work alongside certified aquatics staff and recreation coordinators to support a community fitness facility. This role is open only to students at V3 partner schools.
What you'll do#
- Assist lifeguards and swim instructors with pool-side supervision and class setup.
- Prepare and organize aquatic equipment before and after sessions.
- Support and observe swim lesson instruction for youth.
- Help plan and lead recreational activities, games, and structured programming.
- Facilitate group fitness sessions and open recreation periods.
- Engage with youth participants to create a welcoming environment.
- Greet members and guests in a professional manner.
- Conduct facility walkthroughs to ensure spaces remain clean and orderly.
- Perform inventory checks for equipment and supplies.
- Complete administrative tasks such as attendance tracking and daily logs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a high school student.
- Ability to swim 25 yards with rhythmic breathing.
- Ability to tread water for 2 minutes.
- Experience working with diverse groups of people from various socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and the public.
- Access to reliable transportation.
Location & details#
- Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:30pm; Wednesday or Friday from 4:00pm to 7:30pm; and Saturday from 9:30am to 4:30pm.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position at $17 per hour.
