About the role#
The Nurse Extern - Pre/Post role provides nursing students with hands-on experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to support patient care and administrative tasks. This position is part of an 8-week summer program running from June 14, 2027, to August 7, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform patient care and administrative support tasks delegated by an RN.
- Assist patients with personal care to support their recovery.
- Ensure a safe environment and the safe delivery of care.
- Work with your team to improve processes and patient experiences.
- Partner with patients and families to resolve concerns.
- Maintain consistent communication with the care team.
- Assist with departmental meetings and maintain required competencies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a nursing student entering your last year of school.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- BSN students must have completed their 3rd year, or ASN students must have completed their 1st year.
Location & details#
- Location: Haymarket, Virginia.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 36-40 hours per week, consisting of three 12-hour shifts. You must be flexible to work day or night shifts to match your preceptor's schedule.
- Compensation: $17.28 per hour.
