About the role#
This Nurse Extern position in Med/Tele provides hands-on experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting. You will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to support patient care and administrative tasks. This is a paid, part-time summer program running for 8 weeks from June 14, 2027, to August 7, 2027. You will work 36-40 hours per week, consisting of three 12-hour shifts including rotating weekends.
What you'll do#
- Perform patient care and administrative support functions.
- Assist patients with personal care to aid their recovery.
- Carry out basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN.
- Ensure a safe environment and the safe delivery of care.
- Maintain necessary clinical skills and competencies.
- Collaborate with team members and physicians to improve care processes.
- Coordinate patient care through delegation and problem-solving.
- Partner with patients and their families to resolve concerns.
- Assist with departmental meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- BSN students must have completed their 3rd year.
- ASN students must have completed their 1st year.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent standing, walking, and bending.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 20 lbs occasionally.

- Location: Culpeper, Virginia.
- Pay: $17.28 per hour.
- Schedule: 7a-7p shifts with rotating weekends.
