About the role#
This Nurse Extern position in Med/Tele offers nursing students the chance to gain clinical experience under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will work in an inpatient or outpatient setting to support patient care and administrative tasks. This is a paid, part-time summer program running from June 14, 2027, to August 7, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform patient care and administrative support functions under RN supervision.
- Assist patients with personal care to support their recovery.
- Carry out basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN.
- Maintain a safe environment and ensure safe delivery of care.
- Coordinate patient care through problem solving, time management, and organizational skills.
- Collaborate with physicians and team members to improve care processes.
- Communicate consistently with team members and provide progress updates.
- Partner with patients and families to resolve care concerns.
- Ensure care meets The Joint Commission and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate core knowledge of biomedical and clinical sciences.
- Coach and mentor team members and assist with departmental meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Status as a student entering your last year of nursing school.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- Completion of the 3rd year for BSN students or the 1st year for ASN students.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including frequent standing, walking, and bending.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 20 lbs.
Location & details#
- Location: Culpeper, Virginia.
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week, 7a-7p, with rotating weekends.
- Duration: 8 weeks.
- Pay: $17.28 per hour.
