About the role#
The Nurse Extern position at the Family Birth Center offers nursing students the chance to gain clinical experience under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You will work in an inpatient setting, assisting with patient care and administrative tasks to support recovery and health. This is a paid, part-time summer program.
What you'll do#
- Perform patient care and administrative support functions under the supervision of an RN.
- Assist patients with personal care to support their recovery.
- Carry out basic nursing skills as delegated by an RN in line with hospital policies.
- Maintain a safe environment and ensure the safe delivery of care.
- Keep your clinical skills and competencies up to date throughout the program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- Completion of the 3rd year for BSN students or the 1st year for ASN students.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including rotating weekends.
Location & details#
- Location: Culpeper, Virginia.
- Program duration: 8 weeks, from June 14, 2027, to August 7, 2027.
- Schedule: 36 to 40 hours per week, consisting of three 12-hour shifts.
- Compensation: $17.28 per hour.
