About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to join the Utah Retirement Systems investment team. You will support the management of a pension plan exceeding $40 billion. You will act as an extension of the team, working on real investment issues and contributing to the global management of real assets. This position is paid and requires on-site work in Salt Lake City.
What you'll do#
- Support the team with analysis and due diligence for real estate investments.
- Evaluate and monitor investments while making recommendations based on market conditions.
- Organize due diligence information and participate in related meetings and phone calls.
- Compile materials for Investment Committee presentations.
- Define project scopes and objectives alongside the investment team.
- Gather data from internal and external resources to support research findings.
- Prepare research papers regarding market activity, portfolio sensitivity, and market innovations.
- Assist in producing accurate reports and maintain regular attendance.
- Submit records of trade confirmations or monthly transaction summaries to the Investment Compliance Officer.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate business degree program with an emphasis in real estate.
- Experience in real estate acquisitions, appraising, leasing, or property management.
- Introductory knowledge of Microsoft Office, Access, Visual Basic, SQL, and Bloomberg.
- Familiarity with Argus or similar real estate underwriting software.
- Working knowledge of accounting, auditing principles, and techniques.
- Understanding of financial theory, statistical measures, and investment performance metrics.
- Ability to perform financial forecasting and risk analysis.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Capacity to work both independently and within a team environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Rolling term. Up to 29 hours per week for one year, or up to 40 hours per week for six months.
