University of Wyoming Extension Summer Internship

About the role#

The University of Wyoming Extension is offering part-time summer internships for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience with Extension programs. This role is designed to provide insight into a career in Extension while supporting critical seasonal projects and high-demand programming. Interns will be placed in specific county locations based on alignment between applicant interests and available opportunities.

What you'll do#

• Support and promote Extension projects and events through outreach and general program assistance.
• Assist in the delivery of high-demand programs during the summer season.
• Participate in county and state fairs to ensure successful program delivery.
• Engage with community members and youth through various Extension initiatives.

What you'll need#

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• A valid driver's license compliant with the Driving for University Business policy and a willingness to drive to program locations and events.
• Interest in exploring a career in Extension.
• Experience working with youth and community members.
• Strong communication, organizational, and dependability skills.
• Successful completion of a University of Wyoming background and motor vehicle check is required for employment.

Location & details#

• Location: On-site at assigned UW Extension offices (e.g., Teton County).
• Term: Summer 2026 (July 6, 2026 – August 16, 2026).
• Compensation: $15 per hour for up to 19 hours per week, plus a $1,250 educational award upon successful completion.
• Housing: Interns are responsible for securing their own housing.
• Academic Credit: Option to enroll in 1–4 academic credits (Field Practicum: Ext Work AGRI 4520); interns are responsible for associated tuition costs.
• Application Requirement: Applicants must include a cover letter specifying their preferred county or counties for placement.
