About the role#
The University of Wyoming is hiring a Student Research Assistant to support the development and evaluation of efficient multimodal AI methods. This role focuses on understanding transportation and environmental conditions through visual data. You will contribute to research on deploying vision-language models under specific computational and resource constraints.
What you'll do#
- Prepare, organize, and preprocess research datasets including image, video, and text.
- Conduct computational experiments such as model inference, fine-tuning, compression, and quantization.
- Evaluate model performance using quantitative metrics and established experimental protocols.
- Assist with the deployment and testing of models on edge or resource-constrained computing platforms.
- Maintain organized records and document your research methods and results.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Programming experience in Python or a comparable language.
- Basic knowledge of machine learning, data analysis, or computational methods.
- Ability to work independently and learn new computational tools.
