About the role#
The University of Wyoming is hiring a Production Shop Assistant to support the Department of Theatre and Dance. This role provides hands-on experience with the construction, maintenance, and operation of scenic, lighting, and sound resources for plays, musicals, dance concerts, and festivals. It is a paid, on-site position based at the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.
What you'll do#
- Assist with basic scenic construction and carpentry projects.
- Perform repair and maintenance tasks for production equipment and materials.
- Stock and organize shop materials while maintaining accurate inventory.
- Support production needs for lighting, sound, rigging, and cabling.
- Provide general production support for departmental events.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be eligible and accepted for a work study award through Student Financial Aid.
- Ability to follow instructions and work well within a production team.
- Intermediate experience with carpentry, construction, painting, rigging, or cabling is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Laramie, Wyoming.
- Work is performed on-site at the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.
- The role is part-time with a rolling term.
