About the role#
The Department of Zoology and Physiology is hiring Insect Lab Technicians to support avian research within the Wyoming Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit. This role focuses on processing insect samples collected for studies on the diets and food availability of sagebrush songbirds. You will gain experience handling biological samples and contribute to ongoing wildlife research.
What you'll do#
- Isolate insects from soil samples in the laboratory.
- Assist with the identification and measurement of insect specimens.
- Keep the laboratory environment clean and safe.
- Manage your own work schedule during the week.
What you'll need#
- You must be eligible for and have accepted a work study award through Student Financial Aid.
- Strong attention to detail and care in your work.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Capacity to work, problem-solve, and manage your time independently.
- Prior laboratory experience is preferred.
- Pursuing a degree in Biology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is helpful.
Location & details#
- This position is located on-site at the Biological Sciences Building in Laramie, Wyoming.
- Work is not permitted on weekends.
- This is a paid position at $15 per hour.
