About the role#
The Animal Science department at the University of Wyoming is hiring a student to assist with daily operations at our state-inspected meat processing plant. This role focuses on post-operation duties, carcass fabrication, and meat processing. You will work directly with the meat laboratory manager to support teaching, research, and extension activities.
What you'll do#
- Perform slaughter, fabrication, and processing of meat animals.
- Maintain the facility through cleaning and sanitation protocols.
- Assist the meat laboratory manager with departmental projects.
- Safely operate processing tools and equipment.
- Handle physical tasks, including lifting 35lbs for 50% of your shift, 50lbs for 30% of your shift, and 75lbs for 20% of your shift.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at the University of Wyoming.
- Eligibility for and acceptance of a work study award through Student Financial Aid.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- A willingness to learn and apply safe operational practices.
- Previous meat processing experience is preferred.
