About the role#
The Investment Analyst role is a summer opportunity to join an investment team managing a $16 billion endowment. Analysts work within a flat team structure, interfacing directly with senior management to research global investment themes and evaluate strategies across public and private markets. This role supports the long-term mission of the University of Virginia.
What you'll do#
- Research global investment themes and conduct due diligence on external managers.
- Perform quantitative analysis to evaluate current and prospective investment managers.
- Participate in diligence meetings with external managers, including domestic and international travel.
- Prepare and present investment recommendations alongside senior staff.
- Attend internal investment committee meetings to contribute independent opinions.
- Source, evaluate, and track new investment opportunities.
- Analyze and monitor existing portfolio holdings relative to expectations.
- Complete special projects as directed by senior management.
What you'll need#
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in finance, economics, mathematics, data science, or engineering.
- 0 to 2 years of professional experience.
- Demonstrated passion for investing and global markets.
- Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
