The Federal Work Study Research Assistant will support ongoing research projects within the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences. These projects focus on bilingual language development, early mathematics learning, and autism research. This role provides hands-on experience in educational, developmental, and behavioral research methods, offering mentorship and opportunities to develop skills in data management, assessment, and intervention.
What you'll do#
- Assist with child and family research activities in school and community settings.
- Support assessment, intervention, and data collection across multiple research projects.
- Prepare materials for assessments, intervention sessions, and research visits.
- Score assessments and enter or verify data in research databases.
- Participate in weekly supervision and training meetings.
- Maintain established research procedures to ensure data quality and consistency.
- Assist with literature reviews, research reports, and scholarly presentations.
What you'll need#
- Interest in psychology, education, communication sciences and disorders, speech-language pathology, behavior analysis, occupational therapy, social work, public health, medicine, or related fields.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, reliability, and confidentiality in all research activities.
- Experience or willingness to learn data collection and management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and families.
- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively to complete assigned tasks.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida (On-site).
- Hours: Approximately 7–15 hours per week during the academic semester.
- Schedule: Primarily during standard business hours (10:00 am to 5:00 pm). Work schedules are developed in collaboration with the supervisor.
- Work Modality: On-site in the research office at least two days per week, with some remote work possible upon approval.
