About the role#
Parking & Transportation Services is looking for dependable individuals to serve as Transit Bus Drivers. This position provides safe and reliable transportation for students, faculty, staff, and visitors across campus. The role offers hands-on experience in professional transportation operations, paid CDL training, and a salary increase upon successful completion of training.
What you'll do#
- Safely operate transit buses along assigned routes and schedules.
- Provide customer service and assist passengers, including those with disabilities.
- Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate ridership and operational records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and fellow drivers via radio or mobile data systems.
- Follow all departmental policies, traffic laws, and safety regulations.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current USF student with an expected graduation date of May 2027 or later.
- Hold a valid Florida Driver’s License with a safe driving record and at least 1 year of driving experience in the United States.
- Possess or be eligible to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with passenger and air brake endorsements.
- Obtain a CDL permit prior to the start of training.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and work a flexible schedule.
