About the role#
The University of South Florida Institute of Applied Engineering (IAE) is seeking an Information Technology/Systems Admin Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports the SOFWERX network and operations, providing hands-on experience in a collaborative environment focused on solving complex technical challenges. This is a paid, on-site internship based in Tampa, Florida.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Systems Administrators to maintain hardware, software, and various IT systems.
- Assist in the physical and virtual management of the SOFWERX network.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot system issues.
- Organize and maintain IT resources and infrastructure.
- Assist with user and systems infrastructure configuration and customization.
- Conduct research on relevant technology-focused topics and consult with subject matter experts.
- Participate in weekly market research regarding new capabilities and technologies.
What you'll need#
- U.S. citizenship is required due to access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
- Current standing as a Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a similar field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Practical experience in network management and systems administration.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
