About the role#
The Student Learning Services program supports the academic and learning development of student-athletes at the University of South Florida. This role focuses on helping students become autonomous, self-sufficient learners by providing subject-specific support and teaching effective academic strategies.
What you'll do#
- Enhance student-athlete knowledge through in-depth subject matter review.
- Assist in the implementation of BullsLearn Academic Skills, including reading, writing, time management, organization, note-taking, and test-taking strategies.
- Model ideal student behaviors and habits to encourage mastery of course content.
- Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions lasting at least one hour, scheduled based on tutor and student availability.
- Participate in required training at the beginning and middle of each semester.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a USF student.
- Completion of at least two full-time semesters at USF.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.
- A minimum grade of B+ in any course you intend to tutor.
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 5 hours per week (note that session hours are not guaranteed).
- Submission of a resume and a copy of unofficial USF transcripts.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $14 per hour.
- Term: Rolling.
- Schedule: Sessions occur Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM, and Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
