About the role#
The Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) at the University of South Florida is seeking an undergraduate Student Research Assistant to support the development of a web-based transportation safety learning game for K–12 students. This project involves creating an interactive platform with age-appropriate learning modules that incorporate visual scenes, scenario-based decision-making, and game-based features. You will work under the supervision of a Principal Investigator to build, test, and document the prototype.
What you'll do#
- Assist with developing the overall structure of the web-based transportation safety education prototype.
- Create responsive prototype webpages, including home screens, module navigation, and interactive activities.
- Implement game-based features such as points, progress indicators, badges, rewards, and immediate answer feedback.
- Organize and integrate visual assets like icons, illustrations, and interface elements.
- Conduct functional testing to troubleshoot issues with navigation, user interaction, and browser compatibility.
- Document the prototype structure, software tools, source code, and technical decisions for future development.
- Prepare prototype demonstrations and materials for project reports.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of South Florida.
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Graphic Design, Media Studies, Human Resources, Information Technology, or Instructional Technology.
- Basic experience with web-development technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn new technical tools.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under faculty supervision.
