About the role#
This is an internal position for current students to support the Appliances Branch of the Efficiency Division at the California Energy Commission. You will assist with regulatory compliance, database management, and public outreach efforts. This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited role performed remotely.
What you'll do#
- Respond to emails and phone calls from external stakeholders regarding Title 20 Appliance Efficiency Regulations.
- Maintain the appliance efficiency database by collecting data, analyzing trends, and testing new features.
- Write technical responses for appliance-related inquiries.
- Conduct internet research to analyze state and federal appliance regulations.
- Help prepare documents and web page updates for outreach and education initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current college student in good standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least six-semester or nine-quarter units. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least four-semester or six-quarter units.
- Must reside in California and perform all work within the state.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
- Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work and maintain professional relationships with staff.
- Majors accepted include Biology, Chemistry, Engineering fields, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Sociology, and others.
Location & details#
- This position is fully remote, though you must reside in California.
- Work hours are flexible between 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
- You are expected to work a minimum of 12 hours per week during the academic term, with the possibility of up to 24 hours per week during the year and up to 40 hours during academic breaks.
