About the role#
The USGA Golf Museum and World Golf Hall of Fame is offering a paid internship for a student or recent graduate of an MA program in Museum Studies or a related field. You will gain hands-on experience with a collection of over 85,000 objects while assisting the team with long-term preservation and cataloging projects. This is an opportunity to work in a historic sports museum environment and contribute to the maintenance and organization of significant golf artifacts.
What you'll do#
- Assist with large-scale collections projects, including rehousing and cataloging artifacts.
- Move materials between various collections storage locations.
- Help the team receive and release shipments and pack items for transport.
- Monitor gallery climate and manage integrated pest control efforts.
- Enter and update records in the TMS Collections database.
- Standardize existing records according to the TMS Record Style Guide.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an MA program in Museum Studies or a related field.
- Ability to work independently and stay organized.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with museum databases.
- Willingness to collaborate with team members and offer creative solutions for storage challenges.
Location & details#
- This role is based at the USGA campus in Liberty Corner, New Jersey.
- The position is hybrid and requires approximately 20 hours per week.
- You should be able to work on-site 3 days per week, Monday through Friday.
- The term requires a commitment of at least one full semester.
