About the role#
Kitchen Externs support the culinary team at Union Square Cafe. This role is designed for individuals with a passion for food who want to develop their cooking skills and contribute to a team that values hard work and attention to detail.
What you'll do#
- Support a culture of Enlightened Hospitality.
- Refine culinary techniques and demonstrate a desire to learn and grow.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen team to foster an environment of teamwork.
- Work with the prep and receiving team to receive, label, and store market deliveries.
- Assist line cooks in preparing components for service and learn to set up a station independently.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support team objectives.
What you'll need#
- Experience in a kitchen environment through culinary school or similar education.
- Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
- English fluency (additional languages are preferred but not required).
