About the role#
The Corporate Tax team at UMB Bank manages tax compliance and identifies opportunities to minimize the corporate tax burden. As an intern, you will work within an in-house tax department to gain insight into the inner workings of tax functions at a financial institution. This role involves collaboration with team members on tax research, compliance, and accounting projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the preparation of federal, state, and local income tax returns.
- Participate in tax planning projects and other tax-related initiatives.
- Perform tax research on federal and state tax issues.
- Assist with tax provisions (ASC 740) calculations and analysis.
- Design or modify Excel worksheets for current year tax data or special projects.
- Prepare local city and county business licenses.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least two years in an undergraduate Accounting program.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- A desire to learn more about Corporate Tax.
- Interest in pursuing a career in public accounting or sitting for the CPA exam.

- Location: Kansas City, Missouri.
- Term: Summer 2027 (Late May to Late July).
- Modality: Hybrid (Monday through Thursday in-office, Friday remote).
- Employment: Full time, paid internship.
