About the role#
We are looking for a Functional Safety or Autonomy Safety Engineering Intern to join our team in Northbrook. This internship provides an opportunity to work on a 10-12 week project while gaining exposure to safety science. You will collaborate with a global community of experts and participate in various networking and development activities.
What you'll do#
You will work on projects across several technical areas, including:
- Renewable energy and energy storage functional safety
- Robotic and autonomous robot safety
- Automotive functional safety and autonomy safety
- Electric vehicle charging functional safety
- Industrial and process industry functional safety
- Automotive and industrial cybersecurity
What you'll need#
- You are a rising senior pursuing a bachelor or master degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- You are a self-starter who works well in a results-oriented environment.
- You possess an indefinite right to work in the United States.

- This role is based in Northbrook, Illinois.
- The position is hybrid, requiring you to be on-site 3 days a week.
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
