About the role#
As a Research & Development Intern at TTX Company, you will support railcar engineering projects. You will apply your classroom knowledge to real-world challenges while developing practical skills in design, testing, and data analysis. This role involves working on projects that will be determined at the start of your internship.
What you'll do#
- Create CAD models and engineering drawings.
- Perform finite element analysis and support design validation testing.
- Develop components and prototypes using 3D scanning and printing.
- Analyze and visualize large datasets with Excel, Power BI, and related software.
- Apply machine learning and AI to automate data processing and identify performance trends.
- Use AI-assisted tools for documentation, research, and reporting.
- Communicate your findings, project status, and recommendations through presentations and reports.
What you'll need#
- You must be a full-time student pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- A strong foundation in statics, mechanics, and strength of materials.
- Familiarity with CAD, finite element analysis, and data analytics.
- Experience with tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Python.
- An interest in applying AI and machine learning to engineering problems.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship located in Charlotte, North Carolina.
- The role takes place in a general office environment, though travel may be required.
- You must be able to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift or transport up to 10 pounds.
