About the role#
As a Maintenance Modification Intern, you will work with our engineering team to support projects focused on railcar maintenance and modifications. This position provides hands-on experience with freight car structural repairs, component replacement, and service conversions. You will help us analyze maintenance data and establish labor standards for repair processes.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineers to finish assigned tasks accurately and on time.
- Create supplemental documentation for maintenance instructions and modifications.
- Review railcar maintenance data to identify trends.
- Break down repair processes into discrete steps to estimate labor requirements.
- Gain experience with railcar components, technical writing, and data analytics.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least one year of coursework completed.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Completed coursework in Statics, Strength of Materials, and 3D modeling software like SolidWorks or AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience with welding is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- A critical thinking mindset with an aptitude for problem solving.
- Ability to work independently.
