About the role#
TTX Company is hiring a Continuous Improvement Intern to join our rail transportation operations in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a full-time, on-site role. You will gain practical experience in freight car repair and industrial operations while working under the guidance of experienced shop leaders.
What you'll do#
- Observe and document freight car repair and office processes to support Value Stream Mapping.
- Perform time studies and process mapping to identify waste such as delays, motion, or overproduction.
- Support projects like 5S workplace organization, visual management, and standard work documentation.
- Analyze operational data to measure the impact of improvement projects.
- Attend daily shop meetings, improvement discussions, and safety briefings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Data Science, or a related field.
- A strong interest in manufacturing and industrial maintenance.
- Comfort working in a shop environment while wearing required personal protective equipment.
- Analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
- A proactive approach to learning and contributing to team goals.
- Exposure to Lean or Operational Excellence concepts is a plus.
