About the role#
The Business Insurance Underwriting Professional Development Program is a 10-week summer internship based in Hartford. This program introduces you to the property and casualty insurance industry through hands-on underwriting experience. You will work with a designated coach to learn how to evaluate risk and price insurance products. This role serves as a potential pathway to the full-time Underwriting Professional Development Program.
What you'll do#
- Complete training modules focused on core insurance and underwriting principles.
- Work on projects assigned by your manager, which may include territorial risk assessments or business process analysis.
- Present project findings to local leadership.
- Use modern analytical and artificial intelligence tools, while applying critical thinking to assess the quality of AI-assisted outputs.
- Participate in self-paced professional development courses covering time management and presentation skills.
- Explore other company functions like Risk Control and Claims, and join Account Executives for agency visits.
- Engage in the Enterprise Internship experience, including networking events and an executive speaker series.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree, either currently being pursued or already obtained.
- A preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Academic background in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, or Risk Management and Insurance. Liberal Arts degrees with a business focus are also considered.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
