About the role#
The Business Insurance Underwriting Professional Development Program (BI UPDP) Internship is a 10-week summer program designed for students interested in a career in commercial insurance underwriting. Interns gain first-hand experience evaluating risk and pricing insurance products. This role serves as a potential pathway to our full-time Underwriting Professional Development Program.
What you'll do#
- Complete core training modules focused on insurance and underwriting principles.
- Work on meaningful projects, such as territorial risk assessments or business process analyses, and present your findings to local leadership.
- Learn to use modern analytical and artificial intelligence tools while evaluating the quality and accuracy of AI-assisted outputs.
- Participate in self-paced professional development courses covering time management and presentation skills.
- Explore other departments, including Risk Control and Claims, and join Account Executives on agency visits.
- Take part in the Enterprise Internship experience, which features an Executive Speaker Series, networking events, and the Rising Senior Intern Symposium.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or have obtained a Bachelor’s degree.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, or Risk Management and Insurance. Liberal Arts degrees with a business focus are also welcome.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work on-site in Franklin, Tennessee.
