About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will gain practical experience in the actuarial function, with exposure to product development, financial reporting, and risk management. This role operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
What you'll do#
- Compile data for experience analyses and prepare reports.
- Assess new and existing product designs for market feasibility.
- Translate product specifications into valuation assumptions.
- Price new and existing product designs.
- Assist with statutory, GAAP, and tax valuation requirements.
- Support quarterly ALM risk profiles, investment income budgets, and regulatory reserve adequacy testing.
- Build and run asset/liability models using actuarial software.
- Help convert existing actuarial systems to new platforms.
- Automate processes by writing programs or macros.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior student.
- Major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- Ideally, you have passed at least one SOA exam.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Initiative, attention to detail, and a desire to work in a team.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and spreadsheet applications.
- Knowledge of at least one programming language, such as Visual Basic, R, or Python.
- Familiarity with MS Access or database applications is a plus.
- Previous leadership experience is preferred.

- Locations: Cedar Rapids, IA; Baltimore, MD; or Philadelphia, PA.
- Modality: Hybrid (in-office Tuesday through Thursday).
