About the role#
As a Junior Cybersecurity Operations Analyst Intern, you will join the Information Security Office to help protect digital assets. You will work alongside the Security Operations Center (SOC) and Security Engineering teams to monitor systems and respond to security events. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with real-world security initiatives in a collaborative environment.
What you'll do#
- Provide administrative and operational support to the SOC and Security Engineering teams.
- Monitor and analyze security events and alerts across various systems to detect potential threats.
- Research emerging cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques.
- Support the maintenance, patching, and upgrade roadmaps for security technologies.
- Contribute to incident triage and root-cause analysis.
- Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine security workflows.
- Gather operational data to generate metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Update standard operating procedures, architectural diagrams, and technical documentation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or recent completion of the first year of an undergraduate degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Geopolitical Studies, Ethics, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of information security principles, including network security, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), operating systems (Windows, Linux), identity and access management, and attack vectors.
- Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM platforms, and EDR tools.
- Basic scripting skills in Python or PowerShell and an interest in automation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a collaborative, teachable mindset.
- Bonus points for hands-on cloud experience, familiarity with frameworks like NIST or ISO 27001, participation in CTF competitions, or relevant security certifications like CompTIA Security+.

- Term: Winter 2027 (January 11, 2027 to April 30, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid (2-3 days per week in the office).
- Employment: Full-time, paid position.
