About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Roanoke, Virginia. You will work on-site at our facility, supporting the Energy and Infrastructure Solutions team. This role focuses on software design and hardware documentation for industrial control systems.
What you'll do#
- Create and document industrial controller software modules.
- Develop and animate Human Machine Interface (HMI) software.
- Conduct simulations to verify that software and HMI modules meet project requirements.
- Create electrical drawings for circuits, power distribution, and control equipment.
- Maintain project documentation, including panel layouts and spare parts lists.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure software modules inter-operate correctly.
- Provide regular status reports on your assigned tasks.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completed coursework in control system theory and software development.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 5% of the time.
