About the role#
This Packaging Engineering Co-op position is an on-site, full-time role located in Rochester, New York. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop new products and manufacturing processes. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in packaging design, equipment selection, and technical testing within a professional environment.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with project teams and external suppliers to brainstorm new packaging concepts.
- Create detailed packaging component drawings and engineering change requests.
- Conduct technical feasibility and cost assessments for new projects.
- Assist in selecting packaging equipment and obtaining supplier quotes.
- Perform process qualifications for new equipment according to medical device standards.
- Coordinate industrial ship tests and document findings in technical reports.
- Help develop and implement design guides, test standards, and sustainability guidelines.
- Present design concepts and test results during technical reviews.
- Work closely with a mentor on assigned engineering tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Packaging or Mechanical Engineering, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2029.
- Ability to create basic packaging component drawings, with preference for SolidWorks experience.
- Familiarity with packaging transportation test methods such as ISTA or ASTM.
- Experience with basic data analysis and statistics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of the CAPE PACK program is a plus.
- Proven leadership experience through campus organizations, athletics, volunteer work, or military service.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex problems, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and emotional intelligence.
- Willingness to travel domestically approximately 10% of the time.
- Geographic mobility and flexibility for current and future career opportunities.
- Authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

- Compensation: $21.50 - $28.75 per hour.
- Relocation: A $5,000 net stipend is available for students located 50+ miles from the work site.
