About the role#
This co-op position supports the implementation and deployment of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). You will focus on creating laboratory methods for the Lab Execution System (LES) by converting existing paper-based methods into digital workflows. This role involves collaboration with scientists to build and test methods within the SM-LES system.
What you'll do#
- Build and test digital laboratory methods using the SM-LES system.
- Review existing laboratory methods and consult with scientists who use them.
- Support the deployment of simple laboratory instruments and calibrations.
- Update the electronic sample database for analytical and microbiological laboratories, including sample tracking and stability studies.
- Develop Work Instructions (WIs) related to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assist laboratory chemists and supervisors with project tasks.
- Maintain accurate records and follow all applicable SOPs and safety policies.
- Report potential hazards and maintain a safe, orderly workspace.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college diploma or university degree program in Chemistry or a related field.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to commit to a 9 to 12 month co-op term.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Understanding of basic chemistry and operation of common laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative chemical or microbiological analysis.
- Awareness of quality and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret technical procedures.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- No previous related experience is required, though equivalent combinations of education and training will be considered.

- Compensation: $24.00 to $25.00 per hour.
