About the role#
The Family Center Intern role provides a structured learning experience at our Ellicott City location. You will gain exposure to community-based operations by working under the supervision of a Family Center Director. This position focuses on professional development through observation and hands-on practice across departments like Membership, Fitness, and Youth Programming.
What you'll do#
- Shadow associates across various departments to learn daily operations.
- Practice customer service, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Participate in professional development activities and training sessions.
- Build relationships with community members and staff while demonstrating core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
- Complete assigned learning activities and documentation requirements.
- Develop an understanding of our mission and community impact.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a high school, college, university, vocational program, or workforce development program.
- Ability to communicate clearly, follow directions, and accept supervision.
- A professional demeanor and good character.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing or sitting for long periods, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Capability to work in varied environments, including hot or humid conditions.
