About the role#
This position supports student-athletes at The University of Tulsa as they balance their academic and athletic commitments. Tutors help students succeed in their coursework while developing essential academic habits. You will choose the classes you wish to tutor and gain leadership experience through your interactions with the athletics department.
What you'll do#
- Lead one-on-one or group tutoring sessions across subjects like mathematics, sciences, humanities, and languages.
- Help students build effective study habits, manage their time, and organize their coursework.
- Break down complex course concepts and assignments into manageable parts.
- Guide students through test preparation, including practice exams and review sessions.
- Provide feedback on writing, including essay structure, research methods, and proofreading.
- Track academic progress and communicate regularly with academic advisors.
- Submit session reports on time.
- Connect students with campus resources like writing labs and academic workshops.
- Ensure all support services follow NCAA academic eligibility requirements.
What you'll need#
- Academic proficiency in subjects such as mathematics, sciences, humanities, or languages.
- Knowledge of effective study habits, time management, and organizational strategies.
- Familiarity with test preparation methods.
- Strong writing skills, including experience with research and proofreading.
- Ability to monitor student progress and maintain accurate session records.
- A willingness to learn and uphold NCAA academic eligibility regulations.
