About the role#
The Department of Campus Recreation hires students to serve as the frontline staff at the Collins Fitness Center. You will report to professional staff and ensure the facility remains safe, organized, and clean. This role is open to students in Kinesiology, Health Administration, Public Health, and Nutrition.
What you'll do#
- Monitor access to the Collins Fitness Center and issue guest passes, receipts, and liability waivers.
- Provide fitness equipment orientations and facilitate equipment check-in and check-out.
- Assist with participant registration for group fitness classes and personal training.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the fitness center and ensure weights are returned to their proper locations.
- Enforce Campus Recreation policies and report risk management issues to the building supervisor.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures and intramural sports.
- Maintain current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications, with training provided by the department.
What you'll need#
- An understanding of exercise technique.
- The ability to communicate effectively with patrons.
- The physical ability to lift 50lbs to head level.
